Max Botkin

Max Botkin began his career in public relations in 2001 at Carl Byoir & Associates, representing consulting firm McKinsey & Company. In 2003 he was recruited by Bragman Nyman Caffarelli (now part of PMK*BNC) to be a publicist on their PlayStation and UFC accounts, helping grow both brands into market leaders through celebrity outreach, media pitches, product placement, event planning and crisis management.

In 2006 Max worked in creative development for Avi Arad & Associates, the prolific producer behind numerous Marvel blockbusters, helping identify and shape IP for film and toy lines. A cinephile inspired to follow his passion for storytelling, Max transitioned into screenwriting and in the decade to come was hired by and sold original scripts to major studios and production companies such as Sony, Marvel, Lionsgate, Panteleon,

Atlas Entertainment, MPower, Open Road, Centropolis, Gotham Group, Fox 2000 and Universal. Max had two family films- Opposite Day and Cody the Robosapien- produced and released by Anchor Bay and Netflix.

Moving away from family fare, Max’s original sci-fi script What Happened to Monday landed him on the prestigious 2010 Blacklist for best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. He co-produced the film, which became a foreign theatrical B.O. hit and one of Netflix’s top 3 original films for its first year in release. Shortly thereafter, Max Executive Produced another one of his original screenplays Show Dogs, which was wide-released in theaters internationally by Global Road.

In 2017 Max launched an incubator with award winning production company 1stAveMachine to help their roster of directors transition from commercials to TV and Film. There are seven projects in development that Max will Produce in conjunction with 1stAve, with two films in post-production.

Max continues to write and produce a diverse array of prestige and commercial film and TV projects- both original ideas and adaptations of critically acclaimed books- all of which are folded into Major Chord’s slate. Each project is either packaged with top tier production companies, financing, A-list talent or some combination thereof. (see Major Chord Slate for more specifics)

Max graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from University of Southern California with BA’s in Economics and Communications.
